Q 1. My lips chap often, both in winter and summer, what to do about it?

The skin of the lips is thin and delicate. After washing the face, when the lips are wet, rub them gently with a soft towel. This helps to remove dead skin. Then apply cream of milk and leave on for an hour. For darkened lips, add a few drops of lemon juice to the cream of milk before application. Apply pure almond oil daily on the lips at night and leave on overnight. You can also look for a lip balm with sunscreen.

Q 2. How to increase to hair volume?

Protein adds body to the hair, because it coats the hair and creates more volume. Applying egg or curd half an hour before shampoo adds volume. Beat an egg with a little milk to form a thickish consistency and apply it on the hair. After half an hour, rinse the hair well with water. Add a few drops of eau-de-cologne to a mug of water and use it as a last rinse to get rid of unpleasant odour. For normal to dry hair, experts suggest applying volumnizing mousse or gel before blow drying the hair. This is said to add body and shine.

Q 3. How can I get stronger and whiter nails?

Rub a slice of lemon under the nails to make them look cleaner and whiter. For dry nails, warm any vegetable oil (til oil, sunflower oil or coconut oil) and soak fingers in it for ten minutes. Wipe off with a moist towel. Add baking soda to water and soak fingers in it daily for 15 minutes for whiter nails. Include adequate protein and calcium in your diet.  Take skimmed milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, fish and sprouts. Follow a ten-day programme of taking gelatin. Dissolve one teaspoon gelatin in a little boiling water. Cool the water and add it to fruit juice. Have this daily for ten days.

Q 4. How to take care of wrinkles on face and avoid them further?

Avoid soap and use a cleansing cream or gel. Apply sunscreen before going out in the sun. Keep the skin moisturised while indoors. Apply a night cream or nourishing cream daily at night after cleansing. Massage it on the face with a few drops of water, using outward and slightly upward strokes. Wipe off excess cream with moist cotton wool before breakfast. To avoid wrinkles, it is essential to moisturise and nourish the skin daily.

Q 5. How can I lighten scar marks from my skin?

For acne scars, we recommend Veg Peel treatments at a skin care clinic. Use a facial scrub twice a week. Apply on the face and rub gently on the skin with circular movements, first clockwise and then anti-clockwise. Leave on for 5 minutes and wash off. For normal to oily skin, mix Fuller’s Earth (multani mitti) with rose water and lemon juice. Apply on the face twice a week. Wash off when it dries. For normal to dry skin, add one teaspoon each yogurt and honey to the mixture. Wash off after 20 minutes.
